一封邮件里只要我看见有cooperation这个词，就知道肯定是中国人写的了。
我们都习惯直接把「合作」翻译成cooperation，一方面体现出你的词汇量匮乏，一方面显示出你只会强行翻译。
外企这么多年，我就没看见过老外用过cooperation，可以说这个词并不常用。为数不多的使用场合就是机场、地铁能听到Thanks for your cooperation，非常官腔。
而中国人偏偏都喜欢用，求你们换个词好不好。
老外在表达相同概念的时候会怎么说呢？
1） work with/work together
这是最常见的表达，其实这么简单的词就可以表达「合作」的概念了。
例1：
期待和贵司合作。
- 翻译一：Look forward to our cooperation.
- 翻译二：Look forward to working with your company.
例2：
如果我们能一起合作….
- 翻译一：If we can cooperate …
- 翻译二：If we can work together …
这种邮件在外贸邮件中特别常见，但是老外基本都用 work with/work together来代替。
如果要更洋气一点，就用team up。
例：
Cisco, Apple team up to make iPhone 11 better for WiFi 6.
2）collaboration
cooperation更像是两个公司之间的合作，如果公司或者团队内部之间的合作宜用collaboration，意思更加接近「相互配合」。
从下图可以看出来，collaboration 更加侧重个体之间互动。
例1：
在大家的共同合作下，项目进展顺利。
- 翻译一：Thanks to the team's cooperation, the project is running on track.
- 翻译二：Thanks to the team's collaboration, the project is running on track.
例2：
团队之间需要更多合作。
- 翻译一：We need more cooperation across the teams.
- 翻译二：We need more collaboration across the teams.
例3：
我和你们部门合作得非常不爽。
- 翻译一：I'm so frustrated with the cooperation with your team.
- 翻译二：I'm so frustrated with the collaboration with your team.
例4：
感谢大家的配合。
- 翻译一：Thanks for your cooperation（对外）。
- 翻译二：Thanks for your collaboration（公司内部）。
3）partnership
由partner（合作伙伴）这个词衍生而来，用在商业场合更像是合伙开公司或者合股的意思，容易引起混淆，如果不是表达「合伙」之意则要避免用这个词，在非商业场合则可以代替cooperation。
- the school's partnership with parents 学校与家长的合作
- a partnership between the US and Europe 美国与欧洲的合作
注意，partner也可以做动词，搭配是partner with，意思和work with/ team up with一样。
例：
- 南佛罗里达的大学和美国宇航局合作将蔬菜带入太空。
- South Florida Schools Partner With NASA To Bring Veggies To Space
